November 2007 - Anti-Bullying Week
We went to St. Mary's Primary School, Timsbury for two mornings in the national Anti-Bullying Week. We worked with year 6's and year 4's exploring a range of anti-bullying strategies. Following out visit the Head Teacher wrote:

"Once again, our thanks go to you and your team who did a fantastic job in delivering some important messages to our pupils in a very engaging manner.  The children thoroughly enjoyed the sessions and staff learnt several new techniques, which they will use when working with their classes."

November 2007
On Monday November 5th, the TIE team with Ann Garner, Mel Abba, Cara Aldous and Ian Garforth arrived at Camerton Primary for the first of 6 visits between now and Christmas working with year 5 and 6 pupils on the workshop: All The World's A Stage. Individualised passports had been prepared for each child and after introductory games and a warm-up the children 'packed' for their worldwide travels, 'crossed the channel' to France and explored through mime and improvisation the classic French fairytales of Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella. Next week it's off to Greece!
October 2007
The Next Stage TIE team of Ann Garner, Mel Abba, Cara Aldous and Andrew Ellison visited St Julians CoE Primary in Wellow on October 15th. They had been asked to work with 30 + pupils aged 7-9 for a whole day on the theme Friends not Foes. This specially commissioned workshop included team building games such as Shark Infested Custard, Forum Theatre, improvisation, role play and discussion. The children performed a showcase of their work at the end of the afternoon and the feedback from the school and the class teacher was extremely positive with all activities rated as more than satisfactory.
June 2007
On Monday 25th June Next Stage actors visited St Mary's Primary School in Timsbury to deliver a 2-hour anti-bullying workshop to the Year 6 pupils.  This visit was part of the BARK project.  During the workshops, the pupils explored reasons for bullying and strategies for helping both bully and victim.  Following the visit the Head Teacher wrote:

"The children had a fantastic and thought provoking time and Chris, the class teacher, was telling everybody in the staffroom at lunchtime about the new skills and ideas he had acquired through watching you work."

May 2007 - Outside/In Day

On  Thursday 24th May Next Stage actors enjoyed a day's drama workshop at High Littleton Primary, as part of a week of special activities at the school, linked to the theme 'Outside In'.  Working with Reception and Years 1 and 2, the workshops drew for their inspiration on the popular book by Maurice Sendak, Where the Wild Things Are.  In the story, a forest, a sea and an imaginary land all 'come into' a little boy's bedroom.  The pupils created trees, jungles, vines, seas and boats and rumpusing wild things.  At the end of each session the children showcased their work to other years in the school.  Next Stage was delighted to be working once more with High Littleton pupils and, as always, the actors were impressed with the enthusiasm and talents of the children.  This visit was made possible as part of our BARK project.
