Torch Song Trilogy wins local award

Posted: Monday 04 January, 2010

For the second time, The Bath Chronicle has marked the end of the year with a review of remarkable events, organisations, businesses and individuals that have contributed to the life of Bath in the last twelve months. The paper realises the hard work going on behind the scenes to shape the life of Bath and wishes to salute the people and organisations who have made 2009 a special one. Last year, Ann Garner won the award for Arts Person of The Year, and Next Stage has been honoured this time with the accolade of "Theatre Show of The Year" for Torch Song Trilogy. This trio of plays coincided with the 15th Birthday of the company and celebrated the fact by not only running in Bath for over a week, but also enjoying a fortnight's run in London's West End. The trilogy beat off competition from Theatre Royal productions and other local Bath drama performances to be recognised as a top quality performance. The Chronicle's review of the Trilogy remarked:

"This is first rate utterly professional theatre of which Bath should be hugely proud".
