Haunting Julia by Alan Ayckbourn

“Something comes through the door now, say. Say in the shape of Julia. Someone we know to have been dead for twelve years and there she is. Suddenly. Now I’m not saying this will happen, I’m just supposing this. What do we do?” (Ken - Haunting Julia)

In the week of All Hallows Eve Next Stage actors bring Bath audiences this gripping and chilling ghost story: Haunting Julia. A tale of loss, of the over-whelming nature of human genius, of suicide and of the guilt and anger and sorrow it can create in its wake.

Joe is obsessed by the tragic and mysterious death of his young pianist daughter Julia. He has turned the flat where she died 12 years previously, into the Julia Lukin Centre, creating a shrine in which the public can remember and celebrate her extraordinary musical talent. Invited to join Joe in Julia’s bedroom at the Centre is Andy, the boyfriend who found her body, and psychic Ken Chase. But it appears that Julia is also present........

In the carnival celebrations of All Hallows' Eve our ancestors used the most powerful weapon in the human arsenal, the power of humour and ridicule to confront the power of death. (Sam Portaro). How appropriate, therefore, to find that Britain’s leading comic playwright Alan Ayckbourn has created the perfect entertainment for Hallow’een.

Join us, if you dare, for this haunting story of love and loss.
