Suddenly Last Summer by Tennessee Williams

Tennessee Williams’ best play really comes to life at The Mission
— Phillip Horton, Bath Chronicle

Suddenly Last Summer tells the dark story of Catharine Holly, a relation of a prominent New Orleans family, who appears to have gone insane after witnessing her cousin Sebastian’s death under mysterious circumstances. Fearing that scandal and gossip will tarnish her beloved son's memory and reputation, Sebastian's mother, Violet Venable, seeks the help of the inscrutable Dr Cukrowicz as she tries to silence Catharine’s incoherent utterances about Sebastian's violent death.

Next Stage Theatre Company has an impressive record of highly acclaimed interpretations of Williiams' plays. Suddenly Last Summer reunites Barbara Ingeldew (Blanche: A Streetcar Named Desire 2006, Lady: Orpheus Descending 2008) with Richard Matthews ( Mich: A Streetcar Named Desire, Val: Orpheus Descending) and in turn these accomplished actors are joined by a stellar Next Stage cast. Produced with a spectacular set and stunning costumes, Suddenly Last Summer is one show you will not want to miss.
